Live and Work in the Authority of Christ

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. – Ephesians 2:4-7

It’s been awhile since I’ve mentioned John Maxwell here (you know, one of my all-time favorite authors on leadership!), so its high time we hear some more advice from him! He wrote a devotion in his book “Leadership Promises for Everyday” entitled “Gaining Authority in Christ.” He offers 3 tips for experiencing this in your life and organization:

  1. Renew Your Perspective
  2. Release Your Past
  3. Remember Your Purpose

We’ve been talking recently about Divine Appointments and making a difference where God has you right now…not waiting for the perfect opportunity.  A friend recently reminded me that God is no respecter of persons! Meaning, we are all equal in His eyes. We all put our pants on one leg at a time.

How does this apply to your business? Don’t be afraid to do the job God has given you to do! You have authority in Christ. You needn’t be afraid to share your faith with those around you. You needn’t fear cold-calling a prospective client if that’s part of your current job description. You needn’t fear anything!

Start seeing yourself as God sees you! John Maxwell says that “we must base our life on this position rather than our experience.”

Live and work in the authority that Christ has given you!

Until next time…
