The Daily – Properly Equipped

We serve  such an Awesome, Loving and Mighty God. He does so much for us every day. He sent His Son so we can live with Him in Eternity. As if all He did and does was not enough, He left us an Instruction Manual for life!

Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, and for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

The Word of God is far more than a mere book. It is a manual for life. It is filled with instructions from cover to cover on how to live, love, overcome and become obedient children who lack no good thing. It teaches us God’s ways and how to find strength to make better choices. It also shows us the way to mercy and forgiveness. It equips us for life in this sinful world. It is something every Christian should study and know well.

So brace up your minds; be sober (morally alert); set your hope wholly and unchangeably on the grace that is coming to you when Jesus Christ is revealed. Live as children of obedience to God; do not conform yourselves to the evil desires that governed you in your former ignorance, when you did not know the requirements of the Gospel. But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living. – 1 Peter 1:13-15

How do we live holy lives that are obedient to God?

  • Receive Christ as our Savior.
  • Study God’s Word to KNOW HIS ways.
  • Be Teachable. Allow the Holy Spirit to teach you by listening for His still small voice.
  • Pray Often.
  • Trust His Word.
  • Submit to God’s Will.
  • Let go of sin and unhealthy things.
  • Understand that anything God asks us to give up is for our own good.
  • Forgive others.
  • Forgive yourself.
  • Walk in the spirit by knowing His Word and living it.
  • Resist the devil.
  • Love others.
  • Spend TIME with God.
  • Praise His Holy Name.
  • Study, study, study!

Studying is a major key to obedient living. If we do not KNOW God’s Word, how can we obey His precepts??

Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved, a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth. – 2 Timothy 2:15

Do not misunderstand, God loves you “as is.” However, we must grow. If we do not grow, we are unhealthy. Obeying Him, is LOVING HIM FOR WHO HE IS. Obeying Him is the path to peace, right living, health, effectiveness and happiness.

Of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. – Hebrews 5:11-14

We need to grow up.

It would be sad to see one of our grown children walking around in diapers…It would be even worse if WE are still in diapers! Let’s study God’s Word, start obeying it and allowing Him to TEACH us through it, so we can GROW up into the women He created us to be!

Let’s Pray;

Daddy God, help me to grow up. Help me to let go of any milk feedings in my life and go for the meat of Your life giving Word. Help me to seek to be properly equipped to live a life of holiness and obedience to YOUR Word. Help me love You by learning to KEEP and OBEY Your commands. Forgive me for my flaws and use them for Your glory. Thank You for Your abundant love, mercy, forgiveness and strength! I love YOU! IN Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

Love, love, love that verse from Hebrews 5. You are so right, it would be a shame to see our kid’s walking around in diapers – that image kind of makes me laugh a bit. It would be absurd for us to not want our children to grow, become potty trained, etc. Even though it may be painful for them, your title says it all, when we grow in our relationship with God He is equipping us for our future, just like we are equipping our children for the future when we teach them. :)
