The Daily – Worthless for Good Work of Any Kind

To the pure in heart and conscience all things are pure, but to the defiled and corrupt and unbelieving nothing is pure; their very minds and consciences are defiled and polluted. They profess to know God and be acquainted with Him, but deny, disown and renounce Him by what they do; they are detestable and loathsome, unbelieving and disobedient and disloyal and rebellious, and they are unfit and worthless for good work of any kind. – Titus 1:15-16 (amplified)

Yikes! May I never be this person! May my life never be one filled with disobedience, disloyalty and rebellion towards my God. This person is one who habitually WALKS IN sin! This is far more than a stumbler. These are those who profess to know God, but their life and deeds say otherwise. We must be careful, however, that we do not fall into the lie that makes us believe we can never become this person. We must never get too comfortable that we no longer examine our own hearts and see where we are at spiritually.

…work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling, self-distrust, with serious caution, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ. – Philippians 2:12 (amplified)

I believe we should do a self assessment regularly. Get into the presence of Daddy God and ask Him to reveal sin in our hearts, minds…and lives. Let us never be deceived into thinking we have arrived.

Oh, my Lord, may this never be me…

…worthless for good work of any kind…

Help me be a light for You, Lord. Help me to walk in Truth and be an obedient child.

I love my KING! I do not want to be a poor representation of HIS Truth. May my life be what it should…May I always live in the Truth.

Self Assessment Guide:

Ask yourself the following questions if you want to do an honest self-assessment with Daddy.

Obedient. How long does it take for me to do the right thing? Am I quick to listen to the Word or self?

Repentant when I fall. When I do mess up, am I quick to repent, or do I make excuses?

Diligent. Do I pick myself back up and press on?

Know the Word. Do I know it? Do I read it? Do I study it on a regular basis?

Accountability. Is there someone in my life that I can be accountable to? Someone who will challenge me and NOT be a
“yes man” ?

Seek Council. Do I seek advice and council from those who are spiritually more knowledgeable and “fit” than I am?

Run from Sin. Am I quick to run towards…or AWAY? Am I often giving into the flesh? Would most of my days feel comfortable if Jesus was with me in the face to face flesh??

If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that His word has no place in our hearts. – 1 John 1:8-10 (NLT)

Let’s pray;

Daddy God, thank YOU for Your life-giving Word. Thank You for Truth and for guidance. Help me to make better choices and to walk in obedience. Help me to be all that You created me to be. I want my life to bring glory to Your Name…not shame. I need You. I love You. Forgive me for the wretched woman that I am. Thank You. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

Homework:

I have included some passages to help you dig deeper.

Memorize: But the gate is narrow (contracted by pressure) and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are those who find it. – Matthew 7:14
