The 15 Minute Cleanup

A clean house gives me a clear mind. When my home is clean I am more focused, relaxed, and I have more time to spend with my daughter and doing the things I love. Moms are busy whether you are a stay at home mom or a working mom. I am a single mom, so the household responsibilities fall squarely on my shoulders. Since becoming a single mom, I am always on the search for quick ways to accomplish household chores. I do a thorough cleaning probably once a month.However, cleaning is part of my every day routine. I have discovered that breaking your chores into quick 15-20 minute segments, makes cleaning less stressful and overwhelming. Another way to break up the segments is to have designated days for each room. Washing dishes and taking out the trash are usually an everyday chore, so they would not be included, but there are many cleaning chores that are. Homework for a Three Year Old

The expectations on children attending school have become exceedingly high since my childhood years. I was recently made aware of these expectations because my 3 ½ year old is moving to the “Academic Three’s Class.” Anya has been going to daycare/private school since she was a baby. A decision I grappled with for a long time. Minus a few scraps, and my own motherhood neuroses, for the most part daycare has been a pleasant experience for the both of us. However, I was taken aback when I learned that there were a few rules for the Academic Three’s. Rule 1, all students must wear uniforms; Rule 2, I have to order books for her because she will have homework; Rule 3, if she arrives after 9:05 am three times in a 30 day period than she is suspended. I was not thrilled with these rules, to say the least. Your Mission Field At Work

One point many Christian Working Moms who have been interviewed have made is that they are a shining light in their work place. Whether or not you can speak openly about your faith at work, your co-workers are watching. Are they seeing Jesus in you? Do they see you handle ethical issues in a different manner than other co-workers? Do they see a peace in you amidst all of the stress of the job? Do they see your priorities are in order? Although, we are to be workers worthy of our hire we are first and foremost followers of Christ. Do your co-workers see you participating in the office gossip or do they see you leaving when those discussions come up? Do your co-workers see you building up or tearing down?
