We started out kind of heavy. I hope everyone has had time to digest everything from last time. I am amazed once again at how God brings it all together. Our last lesson was the preparation for today. Today we will go over the next three symptoms of a carnal fleshly lifestyle.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Before I dive in let me share the Greek meanings with you…
Fornication – porneia (por-ni’-ah) or porneuo (porn-yoo’-o): indulge in unlawful lust.
Uncleanness – akatharsia (ak-ath-ar-see’-ah): impurity, uncleanness
Lasciviousness – aselgeia (as-elg’-i-a): wantonness, filthy
The dictionary definition of Wanton – sexually unrestrained
Last lesson, we learned about guarding our eyes. The things we watch affect us more than we realize. We looked at what Jesus said about adultery. He said that just looking at a person with lust in our hearts means we already committed adultery.
It is very important that we realize that our mind is where sin begins. It starts as a thought and then it becomes an imagination and finally sinful act. We sin in our minds before it ever becomes a manifestation. So, if your watching questionable things with men and thinking over how hot they are and how you wish your husband would work out more. Maybe you don’t go that far in your mind or maybe you go farther…If you weren’t watching, and if you were guarding your mind you would not have this struggle at all.
Now, the three words for today are like the next step to what we have already learned. It starts with visual lust and then it moves into fornication, uncleanness, and lasciviousness.
Perhaps their are now fantasies about someone. It could be more serious. There could be masturbation, sexual caressing with another man, or even intercourse.
You may be thinking, “What is she talking about!?” or “Oh, God, please help me!” Either way, I want you to understand that it all begins with looking, then thinking, then fantasizing, and finally action. Each phase is sin. We take steps to get to the action.
You may be in the most deceptive phase of all…looking. Please do not be fooled into thinking that you could never go further than that. It is a lie from the enemy. He loves to deceive. He loves to lie. Jesus called him the father of lies. He hates you. It is the devils goal to destroy you.
Am I saying don’t watch anything with a cute guy in it? NO! What I am saying is don’t watch anything with a man that is naked, half naked, who you already think is hot, or who is in compromising situations. You may need to lay that down and move on. You need, we need to guard our eyes and mind. We know our own weaknesses. Let’s stop lying to ourselves.
Like I told you last time, don’t take my word for it. Pray. Bring it before the Lord. Seek an answer and really study His Word in depth. You will find the answer for yourself. You should also know that this study is only for the serious Christian Women. I mean serious about getting in alignment with God’s will for their lives not their own. The ones Who want all God has for them….
Daddy God, help me to guard my eyes. Help me to stop before I act. Help me to understand Your will. Show me, Lord. I want my life to please You. When I begin to watch something that is not good for me, Lord, please help me to know it. Help me to see things clearly. Send Your mighty angels down to prevent the enemy from blinding me or fooling me. And Lord, When You show me I will listen and obey. I love You! In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
In His Love and Service,
