<–back to Flesh v/s Spirit Main
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. KJV
GOODNESS
Today we will look at the fruit of goodness again from a different angle. If you didn’t read yesterday then you should so you will understand all of what goodness means.
I want to look at the second part of charitable.
Charitable means, generous in gifts to aid the indigent, ill, homeless, etc. Kindly or lenient in judging people.
I’m not going to make this very long. I just want to make sure that we all are very careful in how we view others. It is very easy to get on our spiritual “high horse” and make judgments about another. We must be very careful. Remember what the Word says about judging…judge not lest ye be judged…If you sow judgment you will reap judgment.
Let me give you an example…
You read an article about some horrible thing that one person did to another person or people. Right away you think and/or perhaps say, “What is wrong with that person?…They should get the death penalty…I think they should rot in prison…They should burn in hell…” I’m sure you get my meaning.
Who are you or me to decide those things? We are not God. We do not know a persons heart. We cannot assume anything. Sin is sin. You and I are no better. However, we have the Blood of Jesus over us and they do not. The first thing that we should be thinking and saying to our friends is let’s pray for this situation. I mean pray for not only the victims but the one who did it as well.
It does not matter what the crime or offense. Our job is NEVER to judge. That is God’s job and only His job. Our job is to pray, speak life over the situation, pray, keep our opinions to ourselves, pray, and have compassion for all involved. After all we are talking about souls here. Something that is very precious to God and very much coveted by satan.
Anyway, the next time you encounter an unusual situation or read a horrific headline think twice before you open your mouth in any kind of judgment. Be VERY careful what you sew.
Let’s pray,
Daddy God, please help me to see others (even people I think are hopeless) the way you do. Help me to show Your love and compassion to all people and all situations all the time. Remind me that I too am in need of forgiveness and mercy.. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Note: I just want to make sure you know that I am not saying let people who commit crimes or do wrong should not go to jail or suffer a consequence for their actions. I am simply saying do not judge another person. Do not assume you know anything. And above all pray for their soul.
In His Love and Service,
Lara ;)
