<–back to Flesh v/s Spirit Main
Our foundation Scriptures are Galations 5:16-25
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. KJV
JOY
The original Greek word for joy is chara (khar-ah): cheerfulness, calm delight, gladness, be exceedingly joyful.
This tells me that Christians should not be walking around with sour looks on their faces and having bad attitudes. We should be happy and joyful. People should want what we have. They should see our lights shining through our attitude and smiles. I understand that we all have problems and sometimes very bad days…but being upset and angry about it isn’t going to make it better. It will only make you more upset and magnify the problem.
Proverbs 15:13 says, A glad heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.
Our attitudes can determine how long we go through a trial. think about the Israelites. If they spent more time being thankful and happy to be out of Egypt instead of murmuring and complaining they would have gotten to see the Promised Land. Instead, none of them did….only their children.
Proverbs 17:22 says, A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.
Just by having a good attitude and being of good cheer we bring health and healing to our bodies. However, when our anger and disappointments rules us and we have bad attitudes and that brings sickness and disease.
So, when troubles come be of good cheer. Nothing is that bad. That’s right, I said NOTHING. No matter what you lose of what you go through nothing is worse that eternity in hell. Knowing that you are going to be with Jesus when you die should make you happy for the rest of your life. You are chosen of God. You are His baby girl. He adores you.
Don’t get mad, get glad. You can choose to make your life better simply by changing your attitude. No matter what we go through…if we keep a cheerful heart and positive attitude we can make it through. And it will be a whole lot easier than being angry and sick about it.
If you don’t think that you can be positive then start focusing on all you have to be thankful for. Your children, husband, health, Salvation, roof over your head…Count your blessings not your sorrows.
Let’s pray,
Daddy God, thank You for all You have given me. Thank You for the gift of Salvation. Help me to see all the wonderful things in my life and not focus on the negative. Help me to have a positive attitude during difficult seasons in my life. Help me to remember all that is good in my life. Thank You. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
In His Love and Service,
Lara ;)
