Relationship with the Father

Christianity is more than a free pass to Heaven. God created us for relationship…with Him. God’s purpose is to mold us into the image of Christ. This can only be done with an active relationship with our Daddy God on a regular basis.

How to build a relationship with our God

Here are ways to put action behind the building of a solid relationship with God. It may seem simple to some. However, there are many people that do not know what it is to be IN relationship with the Father.

Pray Daily. When we pray, we need to pray God’s will for our lives. Our first thought is me me me. However, if we pray God’s will for our lives and circumstances, we will never go wrong. He ALWAYS has our best interests at heart. If we trust Him with our lives, we will learn to pray His will and not our own. We will learn to accept His will.

Exalt Him. Worship and exalt Him for Who He is. He is the creator of all things. He is an awesome, mighty, loving, merciful and amazing God. He always has been and He always will be. He is the great I Am. Praise Him for it! Worship Him with gladness and joyfully. Sing out loud. Put on some praise music and get jiggy with it!

Thankfulness. Thank Him for His goodness and mercy. Thank Him for your many blessings both big and small. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Psalm 100:4 (KJV)

Living Sacrifice. Our whole being is to be a living sacrifice for the Lord. Our body, mind, mouth, hands, eyes and ears should be given to God and His will daily. We bring Him the most glory when our lives are lived for Him and not ourselves. It is considering the Lord in all we do. As a close friend has said; Our body and lives should be placed in the offering plate.

Get the Word IN. Do not let sin rule you. We need to renew our minds DAILY. We need to read and study the Word daily. The more of God’s Word we get in the more victory we will have over our thought lives. Our minds are the gateway to sin, doubt and self. The enemy goes for our minds, because he knows it is our weakest point. Fill it with the Word and there will be no room for the flesh.

Include Him. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. – Proverbs 3:6 Notice how it says “ALL.” In ALL our ways, we need to be acknowledging Him. This is how we really build a relationship with Daddy God. We need to talk to Him. We need to include Him in all we do. When we wake up, ask Him what we should eat for breakfast. When we get dressed ask Him what He would like us to wear. This may seem weird or extreme for some. However, if we acknowledge HIM in ALL our ways, He WILL direct and make straight our paths. Hmmm? God will be our GPS! What could be better than that????

Love Him. And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect). – Matthew 22:37 This should be an easy one considering all that He has done for us. Love Him. Love Him by obeying His Word, doing what He says and making HIM the priority in our lives. Then and only then will we KNOW him and His will.

In closing, our lives should be lived for the Lord. To worship Him and do His will. If our focus is on God, NOTHING will shake us…not the economy, global warming, war, gas prices, death, loss…NOTHING!

God loves each of us and He is knocking at the door of our hearts seeking fellowship with us. Will we answer?

Let’s Pray;

Daddy God, I love You. Thank You for creating me. Thank You for loving me and wanting to be my friend. Thank You for having a plan and a purpose for my life. I love You and want all that You have for me. Help me to be all that You created me to be. Help me to seek You and know You more intimately. Help me to live for you and teach my children to love and honor You. You are awesome and mighty. You are the KING of kings and the LORD of Lords. You are my provider, protector and friend. I love You! IN Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
