Names of God – Holy, part two
This is a biggie. So, we made two devotionals for it. Click Here to read part one.
For I am the Lord your God; so consecrate yourselves and be holy. for I am Holy. Leviticus 11:44
The word Holy in this text comes from the Hebrew word quadowsh (kaw-doshe’) or qadosh (kaw-doshe’) and means; morally sacred, God, a sanctuary, Holy One, clean.
I hope that you spent some time after reading part one reflecting on the areas in your life that are not lined up with God’s Word. I did, and I was very surprised!
As we discussed in part one, God is Holy. God is THE Law maker. However, God does not just sit up there with a royal gavel dictating laws to us. He gave us laws to protect us from what sin brings…death, destruction, and unhappiness.
How can we live holy lives?
First, we must pray. We must confess our sin and lay the areas in our lives that are out of alignment at the Feet of Jesus.
Then, we must renew our minds. How? With the Word. We need to fill our minds with the Word. If we only fill it with junk television shows, gossip magazines, ungodly music, and worldly ideas, we will pour out those things into our lives and the lives of our children.
On the flip side, if we fill our minds…renew our minds…with the Life-Giving and Powerful Word of the Living God, we will have joy…victory…and peace in our lives. We will be walking in love and bearing good fruit. (Galatians 5)
Holiness is simply obedience to God’s Word and a consistent pursuing of RELATIONSHIP with Jesus Christ.
Of course we will still make mistakes and sin. However, the more Word we have in us, and the closer our personal relationship with Jesus Christ is, the more victory over sin we will have. We will be quicker to run from it. We will recognize the enemy before his claws have time to sink in. We will have power and authority to overcome the evil in this world…and we will have the knowledge of what to do and when.
I encourage you to renew your mind daily…even if just for 5 minutes. Take time each day to submit your mind, thoughts, will, and actions under the authority of Jesus Christ. Take time to build a relationship with the One Who bore all YOUR guilt and shame. You will find Him in His love letter to you…His Word.
For further study, read and meditate on the following:

Let’s Pray;
Daddy God, thank You for Your Truth. Thank You for creating me to be in relationship with You. Thank You for giving me freedom of choice. Thank You for lighting the way and showing me the right path to take if I choose to. Thank You that you love me and care for me. Thank You that You hear me. Lord, I ask that You help me to renew my mind with Your Word and Your Truth. I ask that You help me to recognize wrong thinking before it becomes a part of me. I pray that You give me Your wisdom and discernment in all areas of my life. Help me to raise my children to be on fire for You and uncompromising to Your Word and Your Ways. Thank You, Daddy. You are an AWESOME, Mighty, Loving, Filled with Compassion, and Holy God. I love You and thank You, for making me Your very Own. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
In His Love and Service,
Lara ;)
