I go through major phases in my home, and I tend to obstinately stick to certain household items for their smells, look, taste, and feel. My newest obsession is vinegar. Did you know that this one item can clean your body and your home? Not only that, it dresses salads, works as a skin toner, and can aid in digestion? 9 Tips to Organize on a Budget
When most people talk about getting organized, they dread the idea of doing it simply because they think it will break the bank. There are so many other things to spend our money on other than straightening the house, right? I could name a list of things I would rather spend money on than baskets and closet systems. What's important about your organizing systems is that you realize two things: 1.) If it's a permanent fixture that you can't change or move with you to a new house, rethink it. A lot of closet systems fall into this category. Make sure that if you splurge on a closet system, that it is still customizable in the event that you move into a new house. 2.) Realize that your needs and the ways you live are constantly changing. You will realize once you have completely organized a space that maintaining the organization begins with its functionality. My Pantry Organization
I have organized my pantry a couple of other times, using containers I had around the house. While those systems were effective, they did not give me the visual appeal I was after in my home-organizing adventure. The goal to any space I organize, is to keep the organizing system as cheap as possible, yet as effective as possible. I realized that I was more apt to cleaning and organizing when I was proud of the space. In our last home, we had a lot more space but things were dingy, the walls were stark white, and there were a lot of dark areas. We ended up moving before I could paint or add extra lighting to certain "problem areas." My point in saying that, is that it is important, especially to someone like me, that I am proud of the space. It takes a lot of effort, time, and sometimes money to spruce up an area that no "organizing skills" can achieve.
