10 Creative Ways to Use Cotton Balls

There are many uses for cotton balls besides the obvious uses for them–like removing makeup, and other skin care routines. They can also be used for art and household projects, deodorizing, fun, and more! The sky is the limit with these balls of creative usefulness. They are light, fluffy, versatile, and very cheap. Let’s take a look at 10 uses you may not have thought of for these fluffy little guys…

1. Arts and Crafts
Cotton balls can be used in creating arts and crafts or be used like an applicator. Kids can use a cotton ball to paint a picture. They can make Santa’s beard, snowmen, snowflakes, clouds, spider web and so forth.

2. Odor Eater
You don’t have to buy baking soda to deodorize and minimize odors in your fridge. You can soak a cotton ball with your favorite essential oil and put in your fridge to remove odor and deodorize the air. Put it at the back of the fridge.

3. Rubber Glove Protector
If you have long nails, you know how easily you can rip rubber gloves. Insert cotton balls in each finger to protect your nails from ripping the glove and it’s a good buffer for your nails.

4. Resize Shoes
You know kids grow fast and buying shoes one size bigger is sometimes more practical than buying shoes that fit now. If shoes are too big, you can stuff cotton balls to the front of the shoe. If you have an ingrown toenail or sensitive area on your foot, you can use the cotton as a cushioned barrier.

5. Refresher
Spritz a cotton ball with perfume and put it in your purse, briefcase, knapsack or gym bag to freshen it up. You can also put several perfume balls in a piece of lace or mesh material, tie it up and put it in your drawer or hang it in the closet.

6. Animal Stuffing
You can use it as stuffing for stuffed animals.

7. Cleaning
Cotton balls soaked in rubbing alcohol can disinfect computer keyboards, mouse, and phones. When it is soaked with bleach and placed in hard to reach places like a corner crevice, it can clean mold and mildew.

8. Fire Starter
Make fire starters by rolling cotton balls in Vaseline. Stored these greased balls in a bottle or Ziploc bag.

9. Ear Plug
It’s good for babies or young kids who don’t like getting water in their ears when having their hair washed. It can also temporarily be used as ear plugs for loud noises such as screaming kids.

10. Jewelry Protector
Use cotton to protect fragile and delicate jewelry such as earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
