Faith and Business 101: Energizing Conversations
Yesterday my business hosted a networking event for all of our local Christian Moms to get together and share their business with each other and some potential clients at a restaurant. This was the first event we have planned like this and I had no idea what to expect.
Have you ever spent hours planning, preparing for and organizing an event and then when the day finally arrives, you just want the thing to be over with? I’ve had that happen many many times…but not yesterday!
Yesterday was a gathering of Christian Moms who “get”me. They are busy each day doing the same thing I’m doing: raising a family, trying to be a good wife and friend, and running a small business to help with the family finances. It was so energizing for me to chat with other moms who understand that mindset. We shared our businesses with each other, made connections with some potential clients that showed up and ate some yummy food at the Baja Fish Co.
Later that evening I got a phone call from a friend who asked about the event. She wanted to know if I was planning to take a long break and put my feet up because she told me “I certainly needed it after such a long, busy day.” But you know what? I didn’t need it! There was something so energizing and wonderful about sharing with other moms who completely understand, that I came home with a renewed passion for my business and family!
Do you have people in your life like that? That you come away from energized and passionate about your future? If not…you can certainly find and create that on your own! I believe that God wants that community for us as work-from-home moms. Pray about a few ladies that you can ask out to lunch that are doing what you do. Join a MOPS group or a local online community like MomsLikeMe or MeetUp.com and then ask a few of them for coffee!
You’ll be glad you did!
Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great. ~Mark Twain
Yep, I think I’ll be hanging out with these kinds of women more often:
‘She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for the task. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night…She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.’ Proverbs 31:17-18,27-30
Until next time….

I completely agree! It’s great being around people who are encouraging and don’t sit around complaining about their husband’s little faults or are negative.
I would really love to know more real life people who share the same desires for Christ, marriage and Lord willing in the future, business as well!
In the meantime, I have met some great online ladies who energize me and are inspiring!
thank you for this and have a blessed weekend!
So true…just as we need to purge those from our lives who drag us down we all need people to energize and lift us up!! So glad the event went well! :D
Thanks for commenting, ladies! It’s great to know there are more of you “Out There”!! :-)
I would love to be apart of networking group like yours. You have inspired me to search around in my local community. Thanks for sharing, Peace and blessings
