What a great beginning! I am amazed at how riveting A Voice in the Wind is already. I could not put it down. Hadassah has begun an amazing journey. What a strong woman!
A Voice in the Wind
Chapter One: Jerusalem
The setting to this chapter is Jerusalem in the time after Jesus when the Roman were conquering the Jews. It was a brutal time in history…especially for Christians. While this is a fiction tale, the setting is all too real.
I felt so sorry for Hadassah. This poor young woman has lost her entire family.
Her father was a brave man who had no fear in spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. The last time he left his family was to set out on another mission to spread the Gospel to the sin filled Jerusalem. Sadly, he never returned, and his family slowly withered away…as did the rest of the city.
As Hadassah sat in a room with her Mother in sister waiting for her brother to return from his daily food search, she reflected on her father and why they had come to Jerusalem.
I was moved by this. I could not help but ask myself…
“Would I be as brave? Would I risk my life to tell others about Jesus? Will that day come for me while I am on this earth?”
Sobering questions…
As the chapter nears an end, we see this young woman’s poor brother killed by a soldier, and we discover that her Mother and sister are already dead…
I cried. It was all so sad.
Yet even in the midst of all this, God’s mercy shined down for Hadassah and she was spared. He softened the heart of a hardened soldier and he allowed her to0 live.
She ate a small meal that night and now she is wondering what tomorrow will bring….

Next Chapter: Germania…I wonder what delights we will find in this chapter of our exciting literary journey!
Proverbs 30:17 The eye [that] mocketh at [his] father, and despiseth to obey [his] mother, the
ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
Can’t wait to keep reading….this book is amazing! Great pick.
Very intense…it was stressful reading it, knowing those things did happen. I had to read a happy book after. About to read chapter 2 now.
It IS intense….this book …. series is WELL worth the time though. LIFE changing really. Chapter two will be up later today or tomorrow. :)
This book is definitely keeping my interest! I agree with the intensity, but it’s a good reminder of how lucky we are to live in a country where we can worship God freely. It makes me wonder if people today would still follow the path God had laid out ahead of them in such hard circumstances — just like Jenna said in her comment above in regards to Hadassah not wanting her father to leave.
I’m attempting to read a chapter each night. I would read this book, and probably the whole series, all at once, but of course being Momma and Wife comes first!! :)
Can’t wait to share more!
it was nice how the boy with the lightning scar faced the pasty guy with no nose.
