It is a promise and an admonishment combined. The Admonishment: Do not be prideful; recognize that there is sin in your life and get rid of it. Repent. Turn from your sin. It is telling us to stop being a spiritual adulteress. We are being encouraged to let go of the flesh and submit to the will of the King. Why? For our own good and so we can obtain the promise!
