Bullying has become a serious problem in our society. Unfortunately, it is not limited to getting beat up, either. It is SO much more than that. Children are being terrorized by OTHER children. We, as moms and parents, must do our part in identifying and helping end this horrible act of abuse. You see, I was a bullied child. I was the geek and the child that was beaten up after school and made fun of relentlessly -- every day. I hated school and never fit in. I lived in fear and never felt good enough since I was not accepted by my peers. My parents did little to aid in the situation... I assume because bullying was not yet considered a real problem. And Your Prayers Are Answered! Not long ago, the nice folks at Moms of Faith responded to my inquiry about posting blog stories related to my personal and family faith challenges. At five feet tall and barely 110 pounds (sometimes), I remember using the comeback: “I may be small… but I’m SMART!” Wellll… maybe that was just good acting! At least, that’s what Dan (my husband) would say today! Hahahaha! Lately, though, I realized that I was probably picked on just as much as the next kid for being short and full of freckles, or whatever kids found different. I bet if I have heard it once, I have heard it a hundred times: “Were you standing in front of a screen door when someone was painting?” Seriously, what’s so … [Read more...]
