Has God ever promised you a blessing and then made you wait for it? I knew when I boarded the plane for Denver in 2010 that God had a purpose for me at the conference hosted by the Christian Writers Guild. I was certain I'd find a publisher for my western romance series! But I left the conference having received interest from only one publisher, who eventually turned me down. I went home confused, because I knew God had called me to be an author. So why wasn't He making it happen? I tried to remain positive and patient. Gospel Reading – John 1:6-8, 26-28 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; He came only as a witness to the light.” “I baptize with water,” John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know. He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.” There was a man sent from God whose name is John; and he is my husband. We will be celebrating our 19th year of marriage in May and God has blessed me over the years with a wonderful example of what it looks like for a bridegroom to love his bride. The most recent example of my husband’s inspiring faith happened only a couple of weeks ago. John had an unfortunate accident with a nail gun that left him with an inch and a half finishing nail completely embedded in the … [Read more...]
The Daily – Wait on the Lord
I am not a fan of waiting. I will do everything in my power to avoid waiting. I choose the shortest lines, avoid traffic at all costs, look for quickest ways to perform tasks, etc. If there is a way to shorten the wait, I will find it, do it, make it happen. I hate waiting. We must wait for our favorite show's new episodes. We must wait in lines. We must wait for take out. We must wait for many things. And, we must wait on the Lord. There is no avoiding waiting. But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. - Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) Waiting is a part of our walk with the Lord. He is not a genie in a bottle that pops out when we rub on the side of it. He does not come … [Read more...]
