Sugar is Bad for Health

Who doesn’t like the taste of sugar? Many foods, today, are loaded with sugar, sometimes you can’t even taste the sugar but it’s still in there. As delicious as sugar-laden foods may taste, the truth is sugar is bad news for your health and body.

Sugar and Your Health

Sugar is a sticky substance. If it is left in the bloodstream, rather than being burned as energy, the particles will stick to your cells. What this means is that a diet high in sugar will lead to more wrinkles, stiff joints, dry brittle nails and hair, and a slew of other health problems.

Cutting sugar out of our diets will make our skin look younger. How? Refined carbohydrates…like…white bread and other white flour products, are high in sugar and will cause inflammation of the skin. This in turn creates high levels of free radicals which attack the collagen that keeps skin firm. If your skin isn’t firm, it will lead to more wrinkles, and poor skin tone.

Free radicals are not just bad news for your skin. They are also deadly for the body. Free radicals can cause a lot of damage to healthy cells, which can lead to many illnesses of the body.

Sugar filled foods are also very hard on our immune systems. Research has shown that white blood cells are less efficient at fighting illness when they are exposed to refined sugar. A diet high in sugar will also raise insulin levels quickly. And, possibly lead to other health problems.

It’s no secret that obesity and weight-related illnesses are on the rise in many countries. It is directly related to diet and lifestyle. Our bodies simply are not able to cope with such high levels of refined sugar. This is why diseases like diabetes are at an all time high. Cutting the excess sugar out of our diets is one of the best things we can do for our health.

It will not be easy. Especially, the first few weeks, when you will still experience cravings for sugar. However, you can try to curb the craving by replacing it with a healthier choice. Fresh fruit is a great choice. It has a natural and healthier form of sugar.
