The Daily – Big Fat Failure

Sometimes I feel like a big fat failure. It’s like I take one step forward and two steps back in some areas of my life. I often ask God if He made a mistake choosing to pick me as one of His daughters! Seriously, I am only trying to be honest with you. I have by NO means “arrived”. I am in a daily battle with my flesh and many times my flesh wins. I can be temperamental, blunt, unkind, selfish and downright prideful! I am daily bringing something before the Lord…especially some sort of verbiage I blurted out without thinking!

For a righteous man falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity. – Proverbs 24:16 (amplified)

THANK GOD for the hope I find in the above Scripture! This verse was written just for me! LOL! I am righteous through the Blood of Jesus and I fall quite a bit. I often feel like I need special glasses just to make it through a day without blowing it! Yet, even through my own self doubts, I find myself remembering to depend on God, and this verse helps me realize falling is just a part of my molding process. Yes, I may will fall! However, I can and WILL rise again! I will continue to dust my behind off and get back up to keep on running this race. Why? Because I KNOW my prize is at the end, and that my Daddy God will continue to carry me through the times of failures. He is there helping me grow and constantly working on me, as a potter does clay, until I become  His beautiful masterpiece!

Yet, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our Potter, and we all are the work of Your hand. – Isaiah 64:8

The fact is, life can be painful and full of disappointments. If we dwell on this, however, we are missing the point. God never promised us life would be one big bowl of cherries. He only promised to love us and walk with us through the storms it brings. For me, that is extremely comforting. It makes me feel overwhelmed by His love. I mean, think about it, the King of Kings, Almighty God, the Great I AM…the CREATOR of the UNIVERSE loves and cares about each of us in such an intimate and incredible way. What other god is like ours?? Who can ever love us like our God??? He takes an interest in every part of our being from the very beginning!

For You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother’s womb. – Psalm 139:13

He knows the number of hairs on our heads!!!

But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. – Matthew 10:30

That’s pretty intimate. I love my girls, but I am not going to take the time to count the hairs on their heads!! LOL!

Seriously, I hope that you can find encouragement in this.

We will fail. We will mess up…regularly. The good news is that we are able to rise back up with God’s assistance and press on! The enemy would love nothing more than for us to give up and wallow in our failures. He knows that if he can convince us to give in to defeat and stop trying, we will become worthless and useless for furthering God’s plan and purposes. That fact alone makes me want to keep rising up after every stumble and fall! There is no way I want that little worm to win any battle in my life! Not as long as there is breath in my lungs and a loving Daddy God surrounding me with love and mercy!

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. – 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (NLT)

We HAVE the VICTORY! It is already ours. We must not give into the lie that tells us when we mess up that we are worthless! Sure, we may get knocked around a bit, but we will never be destroyed as long as we hold on to the Father’s Hand!

Let’s pray;

Daddy God, thank You for loving me so profoundly and intimately. You know my heart and how I am tortured by my self made infirmities. You know how my heart aches to do right. I need You more than anything. I cannot even walk or breath without you by my side. Help me to be the woman You created me to be. Help me to overcome my flesh. Help me to choose to listen to Your still small voice. Guide me. Show me. Remain with me always. Forgive me for my many flaws and THANK YOU for continuing to mold me into a beautiful masterpiece…despite myself! THANK YOU for Your abounding mercy and grace! In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen!

Homework:

I have included a few Scriptures to encourage you, and help you see the light at the end of the tunnel! Look them up. Check the references. Study and find encouragement in Daddy’s love letter to you!

  • 1 Corinthians 10:13
  • Psalm 62:6
  • Philippians 4:6-7
  • Psalm 34:18
  • Romans 8:28
  • 2 Timothy 1:7
  • Psalm 23:4
  • Luke 18:27
  • 2 Corinthians 9:8

Memorize: But He said to me, My grace and mercy is enough for you; for My strength and power are made perfect and show themselves most effective in your weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ may rest upon me! – 2 Corinthians 12:9
