Local Media Reads Bully Blog

And Your Prayers Are Answered!

Not long ago, the nice folks at Moms of Faith responded to my inquiry about posting blog stories related to my personal and family faith challenges.  As a “stay at home mom”, I’ll have to admit that I was unfamiliar with the term SAHM.  And WAHM too, for that matter!  (I know…  I know, it’s embarrassing; so, please don’t tell anyone!)  Believe me, I felt a little stupid wondering what “WAHM” was all about on what I felt was about the coolest online center for moms ever!  I thought it was an onomatopoeia for a loud, crashing  noise!  It just didn’t make sense!

But, oh well!  There sure seemed to be a crowd of moms at Moms of Faith hanging out on their site and sharing God!  This was a crazy new adventure coming from a mom who just figured out that after nearly 11 years, she was a SAHM!  So, go figure!  Next, imagine my excitement when Moms of Faith wrote back after reading my newly compiled blog entry and said they would “try me out”!

So, “Woo Hoo!”   But, you will NEVER believe what happened earlier this month!  For some reason, I just thought this whole posting story thing was something that went through a lengthy process.  So, I submitted a story called “Pray for Holy Boldness” which was about a frightening incident that happened to my 5th grade daughter.  From this, our community has allowed me to develop a creative dramatics workshop called “Holy Boldness Batman!” where kids learn techniques to deal with bullies.

Admittedly, I get really nervous each time a workshop comes about to the point where I forget to eat, shower, or feed my children.  So, when I feel strongly about something, I ask for prayer… from everyone!  If I could walk around with a bull horn and solicit stranger’s prayers without being dragged off by the cops, well… I would!  So, in my heart, I thought that you moms at Moms of Faith would be a good resource for prayers!

Then WAHM (the onomatopoeia sound)!  Moms of Faith posted my blog on the day of the workshop, Holy Boldness Batman! You can’t tell me God didn’t have something to do with that!

Wait…  there’s more!

Another WAHM to break your heart:  Again, on the same day just over the mountain in a neighboring town, a 14 year boy hanged himself.  It seems that at school that day, a girl walked up to him and announced a decision had been made by his class.  No one really liked him.  And, well, maybe he should just go and kill himself.

And he did.

And my heart ached!  So, the only think I could think to do was to pray, pray, pray!  I posted wherever I saw chatter about this poor kid and re-posted the story to Pray for Holy Boldness.

Finally, I found the local news report on Facebook.  I got to see the child whose face looked just as young and innocent as those starting to come to the bully workshop.  So, guess what I did?  I posted the Moms of Faith blog on the reporter’s website and asked what I believed to be the world to pray, to pray for our children, to pray that God will change the hearts of these bullies before another sad story airs on the news.

There is more.

Just as God had Moms of Faith post my prayer request on this important day, the reporter read my Moms of Faith blog – immediately!  Within 5 minutes, she responded and asked if NBC25 could come to our church and do a feature on Holy Boldness Batman!  You can’t tell me God didn’t have a plan there… again!  :-)

Actually, I think God pushed me out of my chair because I nearly fell on the floor.  I know it is just a local station and all, but just look what prayer can do!  Here’s the story:

Although it did not turn out as I would have hoped, I appreciate the opportunity to share how prayer can really make a change.  As a new God Blogger, I really have to tell you that each and every article doesn’t happen for me without prayer.  Believe me, that little button that says “publish post” frightens me every time.  For you experienced bloggers, does it ever get easier?  Let me know.  Because for now, here’s what I do:

  • Pray, always!
  • Ask that God use me as his instrument!
  • Open my heart to share God’s Story!
  • Then, wait!  And hopefully remember to feed my kids!

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”   Matthew 7:7-8 (NKJV)

So, to Moms of Faith I just want to say “Thanks!”  Thanks for “trying me out!”

Thanks for all the prayers Mary! Probably not the sharpest instrument in the shed; but an instrument nontheless! Right?
