God Made Man In All Colors – Teaching Our Kids Not To Discriminate

What a wonderful world! I just love that song by Louis Armstrong. Do me a favor and think of some of the lyrics. Trees of green, red roses too, skies of blue, clouds of white, and colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky. This is what God intended for our world, a wonderful one where all people of all colors co-exist with harmony, love, and peace. Although, this is sadly not the case in our society.

God indeed made man in all colors. However, teaching this concept of co existing in a colorful world to our children is challenging at best. Especially with facing the mixed emotions and opinions of their school peers, neighborhood friends, and unfortunately, sometimes other family members.

I was strongly taught by my parents that being prejudice against other people that are not white is morally wrong.

Proverbs: 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it

Start teaching at an early age. Children are naturally curious about people that look different. And of course, they will go along with their friends at school and practice unkind expressions and beliefs. Your kids desperately want to fit in with the in-crowd and their friends. Teach anti discrimination to your kids early on. You can do this in a number of ways…

What can we do as parents to help teach our children that people of all colors are uniquely beautiful and equal? Let’s look at a few tips…

* Encourage Discussions – You should encourage discussions and allow your children to ask questions. Be open and honest with them and answer all questions thoroughly. Tell them it is OK to be friends with people that are of different race, and accept them for who they are.

* Be A Good Example - If you want your children to be non discriminate, then you should practice non discrimination yourself. Remember, your kids are human and it is natural that they will do as you do.

* Read Scriptures Of The Bible To Your Kids - As I stated above, our God intended for all people of all colors to dwell on this earth in peace and harmony. Point out various places in the scriptures and read to your children. One example is the scripture below.

Acts: 17:26 - And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation

* Teach Your Children Respect - This is so very important. Express to your little ones that people of all races have feelings, wishes, opinions, and dreams just like they do, and therefore, everyone should be treated with respect. Teach them to treat people like they would want to be treated themselves.

Luke 6:31 - And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise

Unfortunately, our world has become saturated with disrespectful discrimination…and not just against race. It also involves religion and gender as well. Remember this…everyone IS EQUAL in God’s eyes. Wouldn’t it be a wonderful world if EVERYONE could see EVERYONE as the same; equal?

Does God Exist??

I sure hope that YOU, the reader, do not ever have to even begin to ask yourself this simple question. Alas, there are many that do.

Please know that the below excerpt did not come from me, I did not write it. However, I have given the site it came from for your reference below.

“God doesn’t exist. Religion is the same as a cult, it just has a better face because so many people believe it. There is not one bit of scientific evidence that leads anyone to believe a super-natural power created the universe. The bible is a story book. Do we believe in Superman? No.”

Note: I found this online while doing a simple search on what people are saying about forcing kids to go to church. It is from the site, sodahead.com.

I was consummately appalled after reading it! It was very difficult to read and absorb the concept of. I do have solid proof that there IS a God. :) Like it or not. And yes, there ARE real miracles. My mother, (God rest her soul), has told me about her own miracle over and over again. She had Alzheimer’s, so she of course repeated herself. And you know, she never ever forgot about that miracle. That experience lingered in her mind to the bitter end…that’s really a miracle in itself, given the Alzheimer’s status.

My mom taught me well about faith, our God, and the heavens. I tried my best to teach my son the same. Well, the memory of that experience lead me to search for the topic “forcing your kids to go to church” in the first place. Ahh, but I found the above excerpt instead and could not resist on writing up a post about it. I guess I’m guilty as charged for making my son go to church with me when he was little. But, that is a whole other topic. And no, I don’t think parents should force their kids to attend church if they don’t want to. It should be their choice. Live and learn, as we all do.

Now, back to my topic at hand…I was about to embellish on my mother’s miracle.

Mom had a serious case of tonsillitis when she was a young girl. She had a dangerously high fever and the chances of her survival did not look good. My grandfather (Mom’s father), was a minister and did not believe in doctors. So, what he did was carry her up a big hill to the church he pastored, praying every step of the way. After they were inside, Grandfather sat her on the front alter and fell to his knees in prayer.

Making a long story short, not long after, Mom began sweating, and her fever broke. She no longer had the sore throat and was able to walk home. Just like that, Mom was well. Amazing in itself, however this is not the superior point I was trying to make in my post here.

Years later after Mom became an adult, a doctor brought up something (he thought) was very odd during an exam. The doctor discovered she had no tonsils and also that they were not surgically removed. Well, with my mom being the spiritual lady that she was retorted to the doctor, “God removed them.” I sure would have liked to see that doctor’s face at that precise moment. It is true, Mom had no tonsils. She received a miracle from God. He wanted her on this earth for a reason.

Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.

Psalms 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God…

This is a true story, however, I should rephrase it as fact. Hearing Grandfather tell it, and also preach about it, always gave me goosebumps. I can still hear his voice, even though he is gone from this world.

Now, this is not the only proof I have that there IS a God. I simply feel him in my heart and his protection on my family and myself each and every day. I also have had various occasions when something good happened in my life that I have no explanation for except, it had to be God. As I’m sure numerous others have had.

If you have a particular miracle that has happened to you or someone dear to you, please share it and of course, any comments you have.

Becoming A Grandmother: A Lot More Than I Emotionally Bargained For

To be bluntly honest with you, I was secretly dreading becoming a grandmother…yes, that’s right! Whenever the thought echoed my mind, I always envisioned myself as old, my hair up in a bun, and glued to a rocking chair.

Boy was I wrong! A grandmother can and should be in tip-top shape in order to have fun and keep up with their grandchildren. Becoming grandma certainly doesn’t mean you are old! You can be one and still enjoy life to the fullest, and be active in your grandchildren’s activities, and so much more.

All my apprehension took flight the first time I saw my grandson. Happy memories of my son as an infant quickly made a temporary imprint in my mind as I beamed at him. I’m sure the joy radiated through my facial expressions. This was my son’s son, a perfect baby boy.

Proverbs 17:6
Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.

Proverbs 16:31
Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life

2 Timothy 1:5
I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.

I was looking down on the greatest gift that God has ever given me. I sobbed uncontrollably as I reached out and gently touched his cheek and kissed his forehead, and then softly said the words “I’m your grandma.”

My heart swelled with love. I really can not describe the feelings I experienced, as I was at a loss for words. This was the greatest moment in my life. I’ve heard many grandparents say that there’s nothing like meeting your grandchildren for the first time. Well, I can now relate to what they were feeling. This little person was tugging at my heart strings. The experience of it was truly very powerful.

And now I think about the many people that will never experience this great joy, as their children can’t bear children of their own. How sad not to have grandchildren…the offspring of your children. I will never take being a grandparent for granted and will be a constant parent figure in my grand baby’s life.

Your Take on Properly Socializing and Connecting With Other Home Business Professionals

Some people online may react with the following: “Sure socializing is super easy, just join every forum and social network site available and post as many ads as you can.”

So, how far will this type of interaction get a home business owner? What do you think?

My opinion would be not far! If connecting with others in this way is your best shot at marketing and networking, the word “other” in the above title would not pertain to you. You would not be deemed as professional at all if you scoured the Internet in this fashion.

Yet, I see so many people doing this very thing and professing to make thousands upon thousands of dollars. Do they expect us to believe in their foolishness? You bet!

Unfortunately a large portion of the marketing population does believe in this and at the same time, they attempt to call themselves professionals.

Do they share their name, where they’re from, and what they do from home?

Do they contribute on forums or other social media with helpful answers, tips, or advice?

Do they take the time to welcome new members and make an effort to converse with them?

Obviously no. All they are interested in is getting their spammy web and affiliate links posted and leaving. Will these spammers be fondly remembered by their counterproductive negligence? I think not!

If you are a work at home professional, wouldn’t you treat people the way YOU yourself would want to be treated and respected? Well, the same goes with respecting the rules and guidelines on a public message forum.

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12

Below You Will Find The Top 3 Effective Business Tips To Connecting and Socializing

  1. Your main focus should be on truly getting to know others and building professional business relationships that would benefit both you and other members. Share what you know to the various social networks about your business. I’m not talking about spamming your business links. I’m talking about sharing tips, marketing strategies and ideas. Strive to always be available to share, advise, support, and encourage.
  2. You should put forth an effort to be remembered by being distinctive, assertive, and fresh. You want to offer something of value to the community. Detailing is key. One word answers simply won’t cut it. It’s important to consistently be fully attentive and as helpful as possible. This will help separate you from your counterparts. And cliché or not, first impressions are always important.
  3. Show other members of a network that you are genuinely interested in them. You may ask how long they have been in business, or why they chose what they do. Or perhaps what they are most passionate about. Ask specific questions that pertain to them, and in return, share something meaningful or unique about yourself.

By following the simple tips above you will be properly branding your business and yourself as credible and reliable. This will encourage consumers to remember and trust you.

Loving Parenting For The Greater Good

Do you remember something your parents wouldn’t let you do when you were a young child?  Wow, I have several! I sure thought my parents were the meanest pair of people that walked the earth. It was a time when everyone (but me of course), was allowed to stay out past dark. When the street lights came on, was my cue to come in and stay in. I remember that just like it was yesterday, when in reality, it was a very long time ago. I sure couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t let me do it too??

Not until after I had a child of my own did I understand their point of view. They were not being mean, they simply didn’t want anything to happen to me, they cared about me. And they were looking out for my own good.

I thank God for their love each and every day. Even though my mother has passed, there’s not a day that goes by when she doesn’t cross my mind. And to think there are so many kids that don’t have a mom and dad and are handed from one foster family to another. You are truly blessed if you have parents, especially if they are still alive.

If you are a mom, take extra time to be with your little ones and teach them all about life, love, laughter, and family. Later on down the road, (more than likely after having their own kids), they will respect, love, and thank you for it.

Also take a careful look and ponder your current parenting skills. Do you think you’re being the best parent you can be? Think about it, you are being tested from the day your first child is born. It’s the biggest adventure you’ll ever encounter, and also the most wonderful.

Your children don’t come with a book of instructions. To answer the question above, your parenting skills come from within, they come from your gut instincts. Have faith in yourself as a parent. Always follow your heart and instincts at what you think are the best choices for your kids. By doing this, you are looking out for your children’s greater good, and also molding them into passionate, responsible adults.

Woe Is Me… and Let’s Be Grateful

Well, let’s face it. We all have those “woe is me” days, don’t we? And we are all entitled to them while traveling through the various stages of our journey of “this life.”

I was having one of those days just last week…as I was thinking, “All I do is work!” Ha!! Yes, was feeling a bit sorry for myself, as we all tend to do at times. And wow, what a day. I was having a bad one, I tell ya! It was a glorious day outside, and I was inside working. :o

I guess all the “woe is me” days makes us who we are, this is true. But knowing this doesn’t make the “woe is me present day” any easier! We realize this after the fact and we learn from them. =)

Later on during my off day last week, I found myself thinking out loud, and I actually mouthed the words, “Tammy, get a grip, you have far too much to be grateful for, snap out of it!” And indeed I do!

It was then that I started thinking about and naming off each thing that I was grateful for. ;)

#1 on my list is Family

#2 My Husband

#3 Grateful that I have a “stay at home” job

#4 Grateful I have food on my table

#5 Grateful I have a warm bed to sleep in

#6 Grateful for the Grandson that will be here soon (before we know it for sure)!

#7 Grateful for the clothes I have to wear and “double grateful” they are getting looser on me. ;)

#8 Grateful for the sunshine, even though I was again, inside working

# 9 Grateful for the friends that I have both (offline and online)

#10 And finally and certainly not least, I’m grateful for my God!

Are you having a “woe is me” crappy day? What all do you have that you are grateful for?

Tammy
