The Sermon on the Mount – Called to be a Light in the Darkness, Part 1
<–back to The Sermon on the Mount
Matthew 5:13 (King James)
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men.
We will start with the original Greek…
Salt – halas (hal’as): prudence
Savor – moraino (mo-rah’-ee-no): to become insipid. To act as a simpleton. Become foolish.
and the Webster’s dictionary…
Prudent – wise
Insipid – without distinctive, interesting, or stimulating qualities.
I believe that Jesus is reminding us who and Who’s we are. We are called to be lights. We are to be wise and powerful. We are supposed to be a place that the world can turn to, and see the love of Christ shining through. We are supposed to live our lives for Him and not our own fleshly desires.
When we choose to go our own way we become simpletons. We lose all credibility. The world calls us hypocrites, because they do not see any distinction between us and them. They only hear us “say” what is right. Then they “see” us act as they do.
If we let this happen we are worthless. We must represent the One who gave up His Life and suffered for us. We must live on purpose and allow God’s purpose to be manifested in our lives.
God deserves no less then our all. He deserves our everything.
Let’s Pray,
Daddy God, thank You for entrusting me with Your call. Thank You for giving me the opportunity to bring the lost to You and not to perish. Thank You for believing in me. Help me to live each day on purpose. Help me to live for You and only You! In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
In His Love and Service,
Lara ;)
