The Sermon on the Mount – Living for Eternity

Matthew 5:17-20

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

I have always been fascinated by the fact that there will be positions in Heaven. And we choose what they will be by our actions here on earth. If we waste our time here on our fleshly sinful desires and make excuses so that we can continue in our sin, we will spend eternity regretting it.

Don’t get me wrong, we will be in Heaven. And Heaven will be a MUCH better place than hell. However…

My question is, do you want to be one of the least? For ETERNITY?! It’s not like we can come back and change it all. We make our choices every day, while we are here on earth. Every time we choose to walk in the spirit and live obedient lives, we are not only storing up our eternal treasure, but we are choosing the position that we will hold for ETERNITY! On the flip side, every time we sow the seed of sin and fleshly carnal living, we are demoting our potential position in Heaven.

I refuse to be a chamber maid in Heaven! I want to have all and be all that God created me to be! I want to walk through those Pearly Gates and hear my Daddy say, “WELL DONE!” I want my eternity to be the very BEST that it can be.

Don’t you want all that God has for you? Not only here on earth, but in eternity? You can have it all, my dear sisters. You really can. All you have to do is live your life for the One Who sticks closer than a brother. The One Who will NEVER leave you or forsake you. The One Who loves You more than His Own life and comfort. It really is a no brainer! Live right! DIE to the flesh! Let go of sin and grab hold of the KING OF KINGS!

Make your eternity AWESOME!!!

Daddy God, Thank You so very much for all the ways that You encourage me to live my life for You. Thank You for not just asking me to do right, but making ways for me to want to do right. Thank You for the rewards that are accumulating in Heaven for me. Thank You for the wonderful position I will hold for my life of obedience. I commit right now to You: I will do my best to live my life on purpose and do Your Will. I will choose to walk in the Spirit and die to my flesh daily. And when I mess up, Lord, I will NOT give up! I will get up and press on until I reach the finish line. I want nothing more than to hear You say, “Well Done!” Thank You. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
