How OR Should Christians Celebrate Halloween?
Before I begin, I want to make it clear that this is NOT going to become a mean spirited type of discussion. We are all sisters in Christ and we should act accordingly. If ANYONE posts a mean come back or has the profound need to force others to believe what they believe to the point of arguing, their comments will be deleted and never again approved on this site. So play NICE!
OK…on to the discussion part…
Do you think Christians should celebrate Halloween? Why or Why not?
Also, if you do not actually celebrate Halloween, but DO participate in “alternative” fall festival type events, don’t you think that is also a form of celebrating?
I ask this, because we do not “celebrate” Halloween in and of itself. However, we do go to our church fall festival every year and dress up and participate in the activities there. The other day, I was thinking about it and I had a sort of epiphany…AM I CELEBRATING Halloween??? I think yes!
I would also like to know what other Moms of Faith think!
I do not like the idea of celebrating halloween but i do let my daugher dress and take her to church functions that have games and rides (not on halloween just durning the month of october) or to chuck e’ cheese or the zoo and let her run around in her coustume… i dont see the wrong in that and I am a christian.. i think it’s okay to dress up but we dont trick or treat just dress up and go out
many Christians-many opinions.Everyone says they believe in Bible, but everyone understands the Bible in many ways. I believe God is very clear in His Word on any pagan things and he also says that we do not judge, but He says that every believer must test everything in spirit. And very sad when many Christians think that halloween is just fun and something to do with kids even when they dress up their kids in innocent costumes or just letting their kids going around neighborhood for candies. we can call it anything we want to have an excuse and not to let the Holy Spirit to convince us in the evil works we allow our kids to participate, but the fact is- all we do for “fun” on this day– it is participation in the devil`s day. May our hearts hear His voice and may the Holy Spirit convince ALL of His kids to follow Lord our God in spirit and the truth!! AMEN!
weel i agree with the strugled we live every day just been a christian, i defenetly dont believe or participate, in any of this, and with God’s help i will try my best to avoid my 3 year old son participate aswell, if we look al the meaning and what represents this day it does not match what the bible talks about a christian life, i mean if your kid wants candy like other kids, just buy it and do some games home, like remembering bible verses, or simple every day question and reward them with candy, not neccesary participate in the world celebretaion of WHAT IS AGAINST GOD. god bless every one and may the holy spirit live in your heart in your mind and soul, and may God gives all wisdom to know how to deal with thise matter in a way that is going to be pleasant and well received for our God.
Hi, I’m 13 and i live in England. Halloween isn’t AS big a thing her as in the States but people still laugh at me & tease me at school because I can’t do halloween. Loads of my Christian friends go trick or treating but my mum won’t let me. I actually cry about it because I get teased so much but my mum doesn’t care she says “just follow your faith”, etc. Well I will let my kids go trick and treating if I have any because of how it makes me feel not doing it. I just want to do it because it’s FUN – I don’t want to celebrate it as a pagan.
