110 Creative Ideas to Keep Kids Busy WITHOUT TV, Technology, Media or…Dare I say it…Video games!

When spring break or summer vacation roll around, many parents may wonder what to do to keep their kids busy. These tips are great for any time of year, however, and a few will even work for winter! The reason I took the time to come up with one hundred ideas was to help parents connect with their children AND keep kids busy without using television and video games as a means of entertainment. I strongly believe that media, video games and television are terrible for kids…especially when over used by parents as a means of keeping their kids occupied. Sure, there are times it is OK or even a great thing… however, in this techno crazy time we live in, it is WAY overdone and kids do not even play or use their imaginations anymore!

Anyway, use what works for you and your family. There are tips for just the kids, you with the kids, older and younger working together and family stuff too! Obviously, some are age specific and others gender specific. However, there are enough ideas listed that any Mom can find several to use and keep her children busy!

How refreshing reading all those comments! If i had my way I would put all playstations, x boxes etc in a big pile and burn the lot! With the exception of the wei of course which can be great for a bit of family interaction… Got a morning with my little princesses tomorrow and thought I would look up some different ideas (which makes me feel a bit bad really) we already do some of the above, but what an excellent list of ideas! It is a bit difficult with things like drawing at the mo as my eldest loves it whereas my youngest would much rather eat the pencils and paper, you know how it is. I just want to do creative things together that does not involve the tv in any way and create something really cool to show Mum when she comes home from work… Thanks for the tips. :o)

My son who is now 6 yrs old is going through an Alien thing. he thinks there so cool and is always asking questions, so I thought I’d have fun with him while taking care of myself at the same time. I buy the face mask stuff all the time, but now I buy the Avocado kind so that when I’m putting it on my face my son joins. He puts it on his face (while I supervise) then when were done and it has to dry for 10-15 mins we play alien invaders. It keeps him busy and he loves it and it’s cheap! One bottle costs about $3 and lasts up to a month sometimes longer I use it 2-3 times a week. Or some stores have the one time use masks for $1 and you can let your kids chose which one they want to use. I hope this idea helps any moms or maybe dads for those alien crazed kids.
