Are you Afraid to be “too Radical” for Christ?

Before I begin, each week we have a discussion. We are all sisters in Christ and we should act accordingly. If ANYONE posts a mean come back or has the profound need to force others to believe what they believe to the point of arguing, their comments will be deleted and never again approved on this site. So play NICE!

OK…on to the discussion part…

Are you Afraid to be “too Radical” for Christ?

This may sound like a simple question, and we all know the “good Christian” answer. However, I am going to be quite honest here, I have been doing my own self reflection and I believe the Holy Spirit keeps asking me this same question.  Are you afraid to be considered “too radical” for Christ? You see, it is not the world that holds me back sometimes, it is “other Christians”.

Yes, I am admitting that at times, I have watered down my message. Or felt guilty for not watering it down out of fear of losing readers, offending or being called “legalistic”. I am not by any stretch legalistic. I know this. However, any time you talk about holiness or come up against a topic that “Christiandom” has embraced (right or wrongly), you can become an outcast fairly quickly. Or, at the very least be called the “ignorant” one.

You see, many of us like to dissect the Word of God, and categorize it to what is “relevant for today” and what is not. I believe with every fiber of my being that is wrong. Who are we to decide that? God is the SAME…yesterday, today and FOREVER! When did we decide He was any different that He was when He created the universe? He has not and never will change to appease the “times”. Yes, we now have liberty in Christ through the Blood that He shed. However, that does not allow us liberty to sin.

Why is this topic coming up over and over in MY head?

Well, I have been feeling the Lord prodding me to put all my focus on this blog. To pour my heart into it. Part of this plan, is me going to more Social Media events and getting the word out about Moms of Faith. Well, as soon as I started pursuing that, I began to hear the little wormy devil’s voice in my ear…“You will lose readers…They will think you are too radical…Who are you to represent anything…You are too direct…Tone it down so you can gain more readership…Nobody likes you…You should adjust that review, it’s too much…You will never get sponsors being radical…” I can go on and on. Yes, I rebuke it. However, the battle is brutal and the devil is not playing. He wants me to back off.

Well, guess what devil??

God has called me BECAUSE I am bold and direct. God has called me TO BE RADICAL. If I lose readers, so be it. However, if just ONE of Daddy’s girls gets convicted, comes out of ignorance or is challenged to dig deeper into His Word, than I know my God will say; “Well Done” at the end of my days. Pleasing man will not be my goal! Gain will not be my goal. Watering down a message will not be my way of blogging. PLEASING God will be my one and ONLY focus!

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. – Hosea 4:6a

OK, how about you? Are you afraid??

I’m so glad to see women of God who are taking that huge step into boldness. Through my walk with Christ, I’ve lost friends, I’ve been criticized, and I constantly get those “wow this girl is crazy” looks lol. But the amazing thing is, I still have my joy and peace. The Word promises that we will be persecuted (one way or another) and if Christ was mocked and persecuted, who are we to not go through things our Master went through?
Btw, there is an awesome preacher who I’ve been listening to named Paul Washer who will just take you over the edge into radicalism if you’re not there already and does NOT water down the gospel in the least bit. His podcasts are free on itunes. Be blessed and continue on in boldness =)

It is funny that this is what the blog this week is about and I found it. God works in mysterious ways sometimes. This weekend I was with my two year old neice who was belting out Christian songs at the top of her lungs every chance she got. Besides being cute she knew almost all the words. Anyway my mom later says that once she gets in school people are going to think she is wierd because her faith is already so deep. I think even if they do she has the potential to show the world some wonderful things. He gave her the abillity to speak about him and too him at such a young age. My son that is just 6 months younger them still doesn’t quite get the concept. I think it is good that someone is willing to speak out about what our lives should be and how we should be as Christians.

Hello – thank you for your post. I came across it today as I searched Yahoo for “can you bee too radical for Jesus”. I am going through a time where I am showing my church (mega church) that one of the studies they are promoting by a popular female teacher contains things that are hinging on unbiblical, and that she believes in contemplative prayer. Well, it is a firestorm to say the least. In my meeting yesterday, I was told I was being radical – in my cutting out beliefs that arent specifically pointed out as wrong in the Bible, and personally for keeping our children out of certain activities, not watching network tv…. Can you be too radical for Jesus? I guess another way to ask it is… Can you cleave too close to Jesus and the Word of God. Nope. I don’t think so. I will be following your blog when I get logged on to my regular computer tonight.

I am right there with you sister! I have been building content for my blog for the past few months, and have just gently “rolled it out” this past two weeks by making a facebook page and setting up a twitter account. The most important thing God has helped me see is that it truly is a ministry, and if our posts reach to hearts of even five people a day, and it draws them closer to the Lord, then we are doing our part in being the hands and feet of God. We need to just seek Him with all our hearts and listen to guidance. Cast aside Satan’s attempts to make you doubt.
    You’ll be in my prayers!
    God Bless,

This was so great to come across today of all days. There has been a spiritual battle going on, in my side of the family. We grew up in a Christian home with expectations and now I have a family of my own as my two other siblings do. However, there has been a ongoing prayer for lost family members but my entire family is rejecting me for keeping the faith alive through my own children. They reject me everytime I stand for right stating Im radical, offending and to blunt. I explain Im doing it in love, I ask them to do a self evaluation because im not yelling, and I don’t even state my opinion until asked–I remind them that they know right and God’s word is the sword, not me. I accept the rude, crude remarks as I know it’s not me personally…but all to say the devil has been working me over on what I should have done, could have done and how if I didn’t say those truths maybe everyone would show peace and harmony. This helped though,Lara because you reminded me “its not me, its the truth, Im standing on/for”! Thanks!
