Chocolates ARE Medicinal!

Imagine my surprise last Tuesday when I pulled the “tank” (a.k.a. Suburban) along-side our rural mail box and opened it to discover a package!  Wait…  Christmas is over and all the Internet shopping packages were long since received.  Wonder what it cold be???

Since it was a school day, finally…, and I was on my way to the bus stop, I finished the one mile drive to the end of the lane where the giant yellow bus deposits our three younger Hott children.  I’ll have to admit to you all, I actually sped to the bus stop as I was eager to open the unexpected package!  Shhhhh!  Don’t tell the West Virginia State Trooper that lives nearby!

Hummmm… Whatever could it be?  It wasn’t my birthday, or even close to anyone else’s in the Hott Household.  Should I wait for the kids to open this together?  Since I had about 90 seconds before the bus arrived, I decided to open the package.  Well, actually,  I tore in to it!

CHOCOLATES!

Oh my goodness!  Chocolates! We were mailed a box of chocolates!  You know, one of those rectangular Russel Stover boxes that is filled with assortment of, yes, MILK chocolates!  Wow!

When the kids arrived, the truck was filled with squeals and giggles as they ripped opened the package with a note attached that read:

I think “chocolates are medicinal”!   love- Isabella

Yes, Isabella, they most certainly are!  When we arrived in the garage, the kids raced in the house to find their daddy and share the excitement of receiving a box of Russel Stover chocolates in the mail.  You see, just the Sunday before, I stood in our small Sunday School class and shared the burden of what the month of January had been like as we watched Dan struggle with pain and Parkinson’s Disease.

It was a hard month, mostly for Dan; but also for the kids to see their daddy unable to stand at all or walk without assistance.  Not knowing what else to do or where to turn, I asked everyone for prayers; both at our church and on my blog “Excuse me, can I tell you something?”.   And people across the country prayed!

“I call on the Lord in my distress, and He answers me!” Psalms 120:1

After several weeks of immobility, today is the second day Dan has been able to walk without a cane!  For the first time in over a month, he has felt strong enough to ride along to town with us!

Praise God for answered prayers! And thank you… chocolates, and prayers, ARE medicinal!

That he is… a little more each and every day! Needless to say, Cindy, the box of chocolates did not last very long! Not sure even if Dan got to enjoy one! :-) But he did enjoy the excitement which was sweeter than the chocolate!
