The Daily – Intercession

I notice a lot of complaining, back-biting, ill mannered comments and the like being spoken a lot more in the Church in recent years. The topics of interest range from politics and leaders to other Christians to the economy and so on. Sadly, our bickering, complaining, and self indulgent chattering is playing right into the hands of our adversary. We are so focused on proving our points that we have missed the most important thing: Intercession.

Intercession means; prayer, petition, or entreaty in favor of or pleading on behalf of another person.

It is pretty simple, yet, I get the feeling it is not really being put into practice. Instead, I hear a lot of murmuring. I know if prayer was taking place and we were REALLY interceding there would not only be change, there would be peace among the Body.

Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree about whatever [anything and everything] they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven. For wherever two or three are gathered in My name, there I AM in the midst of them. – Matthew 18:19-20 (amplified)

There is power in agreement. Unfortunately, it seems like we are “agreeing” to complain and murmur rather than PRAY for the issues and lost people in this world!

Yes, we need to vote. Yes, we need to show our support for righteousness. Yes, we need to stand up against immorality. Yes, we need to rise up in unity and take action! However, more than any of this, we need to be PRAYING for our leaders, entertainment industry, sisters and brothers in Christ who we believe are blind to the Truth, and any and all things not lined up with the Word of God!

We MUST stop the murmuring or we will be in this foul dessert for 40 years…or more!

FIRST OF all, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men. For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that outwardly we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life and inwardly a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way. For such praying is good and right, and it is pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior, Who wishes all men to be saved and increasingly to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the Truth. For there is only one God, and only one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all people, a fact that was attested to at the right and proper time. – 1 Timothy 2:1-6 (amplified)

Let’s pray;

Daddy God, help me to cultivate a heart of prayer. Help me to pray for others. Help me to intercede on the behalf of leaders, my sisters and brothers and anything that comes up against what YOUR Word says. Help me to shut my mouth and ears to murmuring and complaining. Help me to instead intercede. Help Your people see the power of agreement and to unify in prayer so that we REALLY CAN make a difference in this dark and decrepit world! In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen!

Pray for your leaders. Pray for those who aggravate you. Pray for those who are in error. Stop complaining and murmuring and PRAY! Let us UNITE in Intercession!!

Memorize: So be subject to God. Resist the devil stand firm against him, and he will flee from you. James 4:7
