3 Space Saving Ideas For Small Kitchens
How many of you have a big kitchen? Aren’t you lucky?! LOL! For those who have small kitchens finding space and cluttering your counter top can make your kitchen look messy and unworkable no matter how neat you try to make it.
Here are three space saving ideas for small kitchens
First thing is to de-clutter.
Small kitchens shouldn’t be overloaded with extra items. If you haven’t used something in the last year, it’s time to get rid of it from your inventory. Items you no longer need, is broken or doesn’t serve its purpose anymore gets tossed or donated.
Now that you have what’s essential in your kitchen, you’re ready to be more organized in your small kitchen.
Hanging Shoe Organizer
Who would have thought a hanging shoe organizer would be a multi-purpose accessory to use throughout your entire home? It’s not for just shoes anymore. The pockets can be used for a variety of kitchen items. If you have a pantry door, you can hang it on the inside. Two common materials used for a hanging shoe organizer is clear vinyl or canvas.
If you plan to use it for your pantry, I suggest finding one with the clear vinyl pockets so you can see the items.
Things you can store, and I’m sure you could come up with more ideas:
On your pantry door:
– Spices
– Gravy mixes
– Jello
– Individually packed snack items or portioned in baggies for kids’ snacks
– Dog treats
– Ziploc baggies
– Saran wrap
– Aluminum Foil
– Straws
If you don’t have a pantry door, you can secure it to a wall and use it as your utensils or kitchen utilities holder. You can store scissors, labels, permanent marker, scotch tape, clips, twist ties, corkscrew, a small paper towel roll, cleaning cloths, Windex and other items. You can also decorate the hanging shoe organizer to match your kitchen’s decor. A simple, colored bow at the top of the organizer can brighten up the kitchen. It’s also an excellent solution to hide flaws or unfixable and noticeable dents on your wall.
Under Cabinet Spice Rack Organizer
If you don’t have deep cupboards, then space is very important to you. An under cabinet spice rack holder can give you more space. All it takes is four screws under your cabinet and you’re done. You simply slide out the rack and it hangs on the hinge. When you’re done, you give a slight lift and slide it back into its compartment.
Another option is a magnetic spice rack affixed to the inside of the cabinet door, wall, pantry or on the fridge.
Other space saving kitchen ideas:
– Wall-mounted or wall-mounted drop leaf table which can be used to prep food or to eat. If the table doesn’t fold down, you can add hanging storage underneath.
– Small shelves on the wall
– Cup hooks under the cabinet
– Hang up your pots and pans or utensils
Small kitchens don’t have to look and feel cluttered anymore. Use these space saving ideas to decorate your kitchen and open up more space. I hope they will help make your kitchen more organized and easier to work in.
