School Yard Pick {Devotional}

Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for He chose us in advance, and He makes everything work out according to His plan. – Ephesians 1:11

It always brings tears to my eyes, and warmth to my heart, when I hear that God “chose me in advance”. You see, I was that kid that no one chose for their team in the infamous “school yard picks”. So, for me, knowing that He actually CHOSE me is amazing! Dear, sweet, sister, He chose you too! He knew every sin, and icky part of what our hearts would be, and still chose us!

Here’s the real kicker though, not only did He choose us; He also has an inheritance for us. We are joint heirs with Christ (ref. Romans 8:17)! We are royal princesses (ref. 1 Peter 2:9-10)!

As if that was not fabulous enough… He makes everything work out. We may not always understand His plan, but we know that if God is the one with the plan, it will go far better than anything we can come up with!

Father God, thank You for choosing me! Thank You for loving me! I cannot imagine my life without You. Help me to never forget just how much You love me, and that I am your royal princess. Help me to teach my children that they were also chosen to be your princes and princesses! Thank You for all that You are, Daddy. I love You! In Jesus’ MIGHTY and Loving Name, Amen!
