Brood of Snakes!

You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. – Matthew 12:34

What’s In Your Heart?

I love how Jesus just tells it like it is! He is not some wishy-washy weakling. He is Mighty, and when He walked this earth, He called it like He saw it!

His words in this passage can really sting the flesh.

For whatever is in your heart determines what you say…

Oh, Lord, keep evil far from me! This really is a matter of the heart. If we are speaking meanly, negative, rudeness, making crude jokes, slander, cuss words, etc., etc., etc.; it is coming from the depths of our hearts! We must clean out our hearts, so that we can reset our minds, so that we can purify our mouths!

We need to take a heart inventory. Think about how you have been speaking lately. Have you been pretty negative? A sour puss? Swearing a lot? Yelling at the kids? Participating in crude jokes? Many times what comes out is a result of what has been going in. Pay attention to what you are watching, reading, and listening to! Regardless of its origin, whatever your heart issue is that is spewing from your lips, repent! Take it to the feet of the Father, repent, and leave it there! Get in the Word, and replace the ick that has accumulated in your heart! Then, you will see the overflowing of God’s love and tenderness flowing from your lips!

May we never be a brood of snakes!

Father God, forgive me for allowing myself to let my guard down! Forgive me for letting my heart be deceived and filled with junk. Help me to find the origins of my heart issues, and turn from them! Help me to replace the sick portions of my heart with the Truth and healing of Your life-giving Word! Lord, forgive me for anything and everything I have said up to this moment that was not pleasing to you. Help me to shut my mouth more, listen more, and pray more! I love You, Lord. Thank You for Your forgiveness, strength, and help! In Jesus’ MIGHTY Name, Amen!
