When was the last time you watched a movie, read a book, or listened to an album labeled "Christian"? Sometimes in the busyness of life, we just don't think about it. Or we just didn't know about it. Or we worry that it's not good quality. Maybe we need to be a little more intentional... So why should we support Christian entertainment? Because God wants the body of Christ to be unified, and because we are warned that whatever gets most of our time and attention impacts us, either for good or bad. -- In Philippians 4:8, the Bible talks about filling our minds with things that are good and uplifting. -- In Romans 12:2, the Bible tells believers not to conform to the ways of the world. -- In Colossians 3:2. the Bible shows us that we are to set our minds on things above, not worldly things. -- In Hebrews 10:24, the Bible says we are to encourage each other, to spur one another toward love and good deeds. 4 Back-To-School Prayers for Moms
The last evening of summer, I took my children out for ice-cream to celebrate. I had intended to say fare-well to summer with a bang, but my week got away from me, so we settled for a quick trip to Cold Stone just down the road. All week little regrets had slithered through my mind, all those things I had wanted to do with the kids that we never got around to doing. And then I decided that instead of looking back at what I missed, I could look forward to what was ahead. I sent one child up to prep for bed, and grabbed the other one to my side. After a kiss to the temple, I tipped our heads together and began to pray for the first day of school, and all the days after. Then I did the same with my other child. We all went to bed happy, and excited for another year of classes. Why Every Family Needs To Get Away
My husband and I just returned home from an amazing vacation where we took our children on a road trip through three states. Although we were exhausted from the busy activities, we're glad we made the sacrifice to go. Because time away from home is essential for families. But why? Does it really matter? Should it really be a priority to get away? When I was growing up, my family was poor. We didn’t have electricity or running water, and all wore hand-me-down clothes. Yet my mother always made sure we took little adventures such as tent camping or huckleberry picking. Although we never went more than a couple hours’ drive from home, I look back on my childhood with fondness rather than disappointment because of times like those.
