Why didn't Mom tell me how bad this thing called menopause could get?! Hmm...probably because she went through the process of it relevantly smooth. Mom just had a few bad headaches, (to my recollection). And she had her last cycle at the age of 44. Well of course, I thought I would follow suit and inherit her good fortune. Wrong!! I did however put an end to my heavy cycles since my OB/GYN performed the oblation. And thank God for small favors!! Since the beginning of March, I am cycle free. Yeah! But wait, it's not all coming up roses for me now, far from it! I'm experiencing the effects of menopause in the worst way. The hot flashes I can handle. Don't get me wrong; they are NOT fun. LOL. However, it's the depression and anxiety that I'm having major issues with. Some days it's hard to just get out of bed, and there are those days that I get up early, do my workout, and feel awesome afterwards, and usually my days go (for the most part) well. Adventures in Odyssey Album 62: Let’s Put on a Show
When I was eight years old, I listened to Adventures in Odyssey all the time. I loved hearing Imagination Station journeys back to Bible times, listening to “slice of life” stories with the everyday kids in Odyssey, and coming along for exciting tales from history. But my favorite episodes were always the ones featuring Connie Kendall and Eugene Meltsner. Connie was an outspoken, feisty high school student who worked behind the counter at Whit’s End, a local soda shop. Eugene was a brainy college student who seemed to know everything about every subject...or at least he thought he did. Though the two of them were good friends, they spent most of their time together as perfect foils – arguing about everything from fashion to faith. Nearly thirty years later, I have the pleasure to work behind the scenes on Adventures in Odyssey. Eugene and Connie are still on the show, but some things have changed. Why Every Family Needs To Get Away
My husband and I just returned home from an amazing vacation where we took our children on a road trip through three states. Although we were exhausted from the busy activities, we're glad we made the sacrifice to go. Because time away from home is essential for families. But why? Does it really matter? Should it really be a priority to get away? When I was growing up, my family was poor. We didn’t have electricity or running water, and all wore hand-me-down clothes. Yet my mother always made sure we took little adventures such as tent camping or huckleberry picking. Although we never went more than a couple hours’ drive from home, I look back on my childhood with fondness rather than disappointment because of times like those.
