The world is so different from when I was a kid. Technology is everywhere--constantly progressing, and social media is a huge factor in society. Unfortunately, it can be tedious to prepare our kids for the craziness of social media, and set important boundaries. We must take the time to teach our children safety tips, set guidelines, and discuss what appropriate online behavior is. Basic Safety tips for any social media site - Create strong passwords with numbers, special characters, upper and lower case letters. The longer the password, the better--and passwords should be changed often. - Disable location information on cell phones and on web based sites under "Settings" or "Profile" in the person's account. - Go over profile and privacy settings and make changes. Faith and Business 101: Pinning Your Way To A New Social Network
If you haven't heard of Pinterest, you will now. It's the newest and fastest growing social networking platform to hit the US since its launch in May 2011. Pinterest is an online pin board where a user curates photos, images or videos of things they like and share them on boards. Like other social networking sites, you have followers and people who comment on your pins. Anyone can join, but you can't just go to their site and sign up. You can request an invite as stated on their website or snag an invite from someone who's already using Pinterest. Once you receive your Pinterest invite, you can log in using your FaceBook or Twitter account. As with any social networking site, you should complete your profile with your real name. Faith and Business 101: Yes to the Best
“Learn to say 'no' to the good so you can say 'yes' to the best.” - John C. Maxwell The CEO of the company I work for quoted this mantra over and over until it stuck into my mind. At the time I didn't have a ton on my plate-so while I thought it was good, it wasn't applicable yet. Fast forward to this year: 2 children, 2 work at home jobs, one PR blog, additional freelance writing work, church, bible study, playgroups, MOPs, preschool with my 3 year old at home 2 days a week, cleaning, cooking, hubby time, devotions, working out, phone calls back home, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, email, me time.....shall I keep going? Suddenly this quote became very real and very needed! Searching for balance can get tricky when you look at your plate and all you see are "good" things. How do you say no to any of them???
