The Sermon on the Mount – Blessed are the Pure in Mind

<–back to The Sermon on the Mount

Matthew 5:8 (NIV)

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

The original Greek word for heart in this text is, Kardia (kar-dee’-ah): the mind

Our minds will become pure when we stop filling them with junk. You see, all the entertainment and ideas of this world are in opposition to what is right before the Father. We get so wrapped up in the world that we forget a lot of it should never even be seen let alone a part of a Christian’s life.

Here is where I will step on some toes…LOL

A Christian should not be watching movies and television shows that are filled with adulterous affairs, lying, cheating, hate, and the like. How could watching someone cheat on their husbands be entertainment? Adultery is a common and horribly destructive force against the family today. You may say that it is “just entertainment.” “It’s not real…it’s fantasy.” Lies…lies…lies…Oh, it is real my dear sisters…very real. These things are happening all around us and when we make it “entertainment,” we are clearly being fooled and blinded by our very own fleshly desires.

If you don’t believe me, I have a challenge for you….get on your knees and actively and persistently seek God about it, and let me know what happens. You see, I did this, and that is when He pulled the self placed wool from in front of my flesh loving eyes!

The best way to really know God’s will for your life. Including what you watch, eat, and buy is to get into His Word and seek His Face every day. To crave and seek it like you do that chocolate truffle that calls to you…or that huge sale at your favorite store…or that sinful show that you just can’t get enough of…

I’m sorry if this offends some of you…I’m not out to be a people pleaser. I’m doing what God called me to do. What I do and say are for Him and His glory. I gave up arguing with Him a long time ago. It may not always be an easy place that He takes me, but I’ll take it over this world any day!

Let’s Pray,

Daddy God, Thank You for Your Word. Thank You that everything I need can be found there. Help me to gain wisdom and understanding. Help me to see things clearly. help me to know what is good for me and what is bad for me. And help me to have the strength to let go of what I should. Thank You. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

In His Love and Service,

Lara ;)
