The Lord’s Prayer, part 2

Verses 11-13

Give us this day our daily bread

I do not believe that this means physical food. It does not say anything about food in the original Greek. I believe that this is talking about spiritual food. We must have the Word in us more than a turkey sandwich. The Word is the most important thing we can ever put in us. The Word gives us power.

If you notice Jesus is asking the Father to “give” it. The reason for this is because God does not shove anything down our throats. We must ask to receive and knock to have the door opened.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven (left, remitted, and let go of the debts, and have given up resentment against) our debtors.

Here forgiveness is being asked after it have already been given. In the past, we did a two day study on Forgiveness. We MUST forgive. If you missed it or need a refresher here is a link for both days. They will both open up into a new page.

Forgiveness, part 1

Forgiveness, part 2

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and glory forever. Amen

God does not tempt us with evil. He will, however, test us to see if we will be faithful. When we ask Him to not lead us into temptation we are asking for His help. Our fleshly nature is what gets us into trouble. If we acknowledge that, and ask for God’s help, He will give it to us. He will deliver us from the attacks of the enemy. We must first be under His protection though.

We learned about that with the Psalm 91 study. However, that does not mean if we sit on a railroad track and ask God to stop the train that He will. I mean if we put ourselves in situations where we are tempted then we are stepping out of the covering that we just asked for.

For Yours is the Kingdom….

As I said in part one, He does not need us to tell Him Who He is or What is His. By saying this we are showing Him not only the respect He deserves but acknowledging His Authority and Supremeness.

I think that The Lord’s Prayer is a prayer that we should not only learn the words to and just say. I think we should live it. That was the point that Jesus tried to make. When we acknowledge Who God is and What He is. When we understand that He knows better than us. When we give Him the keys. When we let go and really give it all to Him. When we make Him our purpose. We will have joy and peace like we have never known. That is the secret that Jesus was sharing. He never worried. He never worried because He knew Who was in charge and Jesus let Him be in charge.

Let’s Pray,

Daddy God, Who is in Heaven. Holy is Your Mighty Name. Your Kingdom come Your Will and only Your Will be done in me as in Heaven. I submit to You and Your ways. Give me a fresh Word today. Reveal Yourself to me, Daddy. Forgive me as I have already forgiven. Keep evil far from me and help me to avoid temptation. Holy is Your Name. I declare that You know better than I. And right now Daddy, right now, I give You the keys. I am putting You in charge. I know that Your way is better than mine. Thank You for Your precious Word and Love. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

In His Love and Service,

Lara ;)
