The Sermon on the Mount – Anger – Let’s Overcome It!
<–back to The Sermon on the Mount
Matthew 5:21-26
“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’
But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,
leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.
“Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.
I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
Anger. We all deal with it on some level. We have talked about this several times before. There isn’t anything more I can add, other than links to the past studies…
The Proverbs of the New Testament
James 1:19-20 – Be slow to anger and quick to forgive.
James 4:1-2a – To hate is to murder
There is also an article that I wrote about anger…
I think it would also be appropriate to add another article that I wrote that can counteract anger…
The Two Most Important Commandments: Love
These references should help us better understand the seriousness of anger that is unchecked.
Let’s Pray,
Daddy God, Please help me to overcome anger and conflict. Help me to love more and get angry less. I want to be all that you created me to be. I want to be completely free of all anger and conflict in my life, no matter how big…or small. I release all of my anger, by faith, right now. I release it all to You. Please take it, Lord. I cannot carry this load anymore. It is all Yours. Thank You! I now receive Your Peace that passes all understanding. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
In His Love and Service,
Lara ;)
