A healthy mother and son relationship is important because it teaches boys how to treat a woman, and how to respect her as well. A son who is close to his mom doesn't make them a mama's boy or weak by any means. Like any relationship, it has to start from the beginning when they are babies and continue onward and into their adulthood. For some moms, bonding with their sons is a challenge. Unlike girls, boys think, do and act differently. It's not a natural instinct for boys to know how to be kind or thoughtful to a female, therefore, you have to teach and show how to be respectful. This start by you showing respect to him first by speech and then you teach him how to show respect by action. If you're a single mom, having a male figure present in your son's life is needed. If his father isn't around, look for a trusted family friend, grandfather, pastor, cousin, or uncle. Prayer for Mothers with Sons
This is for all the moms out there with one or more sons. Pray it often! Lord, I thank You for blessing me with sons. I pray that You help me to train them up to be strong men that stand up for righteousness. Help me to teach Him how to be tough--yet tender, firm--yet compassionate, loving--yet never a pushover, honest--yet kind. Lord, I ask that You teach me how to train my boys to be shining lights in this dark world. As they grow up, I pray that You give them strength to resist temptations and the courage to walk away when they need to. I pray that they remain pure until they are married and that You give them a measure of wisdom and discernment when it comes to girls that come into their lives. I pray that You help them to be good fathers to their children and to respect those in authority over them. Once again, I lose the prize for “Mother of the Year”! I just can’t believe that after four children, how I could have missed something so basic, so required, so essential! It is almost just too embarrassing to share with you. Like I said – almost! :-) Yesterday was one of those action packed days from sun up to sun down. Do you know what I mean? The end of the first school quarter landed on none other than a festive filled Halloween weekend, complete with elementary school parties to middle school dances; volunteer work for the drug awareness program in the morning to pottery art class after school. Somewhere in the middle of the day, Dan and I managed to watch a Jennifer Anniston movie while I was making celery raisin snacks for Isaac’s party.
